Brown Investigations News
One case I was involved in was a fatal shooting between two drug dealers. One dealer was positioned at the top of a narrow, interior staircase and the other at the base of the stairs. Both subjects fired at each other striking their intended targets. Evidence at the scene indicated the subject at the top of the stairs fired two rounds from a 9mm pistol, thus leaving two casings on the floor. The subject below fired three times with a .38 cal revolver striking the wall twice and the intended target once.
During the scene evaluation and processing I found the victim at the bottom of the stairs had only one entry wound and not two. The errant projectile could not be located nor could any collateral damage. After a great deal of work and thought I examined the revolver at the scene. I discovered the errant 9mm round had travelled down the barrel of the revolver and lodged at the base of the empty shell at the twelve o'clock position, rendering the revolver useless.
This goes to illustrate the importance of being entirely thorough in the investigation and critical thinking. This comes only with long term experience and determination. Experience and determination are just two of the attributes Brown Investigations can offer you.
